Aly Elsayed Wins 2022 Pan-American Snooker

The United States of America is set to have representation on the World Snooker Tour next season as Ahmed Aly Elsayed defeated Canada’s Amar Sadeg 5-1 in the final to win the 2022 Pan American Snooker Championship.

Pan-American Billiards and Snooker Association (PABSA) organized PanAm Snooker Championship, which is open to players from North, Central and South America, was held at the Corner Bank in Toronto from October 25 to 30, 2022.

Record six-time United States National Champion Aly Elsayed made a comeback from losing his Pan-American Seniors title a few days earlier. In the playoffs, he defeated Phil Snache (Canada) 4-0 in the first round, followed by a close 4-3 quarter-final win against Vito Puopolo – the person who defeated him as seniors champion here earlier in the week. In the semi finals, he defeated Brazil’s Noel Rodrigues also in a closely fought match.

Making it to the finals from the other half of the draw, Canadian Amar Sadeg defeated country-mates Alex Zhang 4-2, Derrick Claus 4-1 and John Brooks 4-2.

In the finals, Aly Elsayed played out a comfortable win to secure the prestigious two-year professional tour card for 2023/24 and 2024/25. Aly Elsayed had played at the Crucible Theatre last May in the World Seniors Championship after winning the Seniors title in 2021.
